Going green

I've had a chance to work with the Michigan Funeral Directors Association, and the organization steps out today with an op ed in the Detroit Free Press in recogition of Earth Day and the work done by its members around the Michigan.

As Earth Day 2009 is celebrated, you might be surprised to learn that funeral directors across Michigan and the Michigan Funeral Directors Association (MFDA) are also leading an effort in the “greening” of our state. It’s an effort rooted in conserving our land and water resources while reducing pollution and carbon emissions. It’s also an effort that goes to the very heart of any funeral director’s mission: meeting and serving the changing needs and wishes of families as they say good-bye to a deceased loved one.
