Matthew Resch, leader of Resch Strategies, began his communications and public relations career in the Michigan governor's office, serving as Deputy Communications Director for Governor John Engler and Press Secretary to Lt. Governor Dick Posthumus. Since leaving that role at the end of the Engler Administration, Resch has directed public and media relations efforts on behalf of two state Speakers of the House, a fortune 30 company, a state legislative caucus, a statewide ballot effort and a presidential campaign.

From 2003 to 2004, Resch served as spokesman for Michigan's Speaker of the House. In 2004, he directed the public affairs communications effort for AT&T (then SBC) Michigan. Resch returned to the Michigan Legislature in 2005 with an offer from the newly-elected Speaker of the House to head the communications and media relations operation for the majority caucus, a role he held until the fall of 2007 when he joined the Sterling Corporation, a public relations and political consulting firm. As vice-president of the Sterling Corporation, he managed a diverse portfolio of clients representing corporate America, legislative advocacy initiatives, professional associations, non-profit organizations and political campaigns.

In 2009, Resch Strategies was founded.

Resch was raised in Fort Wayne, IN, and now lives in Lansing, MI, with his wife Brenda and young sons, Owen and Cooper. He is a graduate of Hillsdale College.

Stepping straight out of the press shop of a statewide gubernatorial campaign, Nick De Leeuw joined Resch Strategies as Director of Communications in the fall of 2010.  Nick is a veteran of numerous statewide campaigns, has worked with the media on behalf of Michigan’s Attorney General and members of the state legislature and is at the top of the list of Michigan professionals in the development and implementation of new media tools and strategy.

A Grand Rapids native and graduate of Grand Valley State University,
De Leeuw began his career in 2003 at the Michigan Republican Party where he was responsible for planning and executing events ranging from Presidential visits to state nominating conventions.  De Leeuw transitioned to communications in 2005 when he joined the staff of the state Speaker of the House and directed public and media relations efforts for a half-dozen legislators from across west Michigan.

After a two-year stint as Director of Advance with a campaign for Michigan governor, De Leeuw began consulting statewide on the effective use of new media.  Through extensive writing, use of social media, community development and the creation of online video and mutli-media content, De Leeuw broke ground in establishing one of the very first online homes for commentators on Michigan news and politics.

Before joining Resch Strategies, De Leeuw served as the Director of Communications for the gubernatorial campaign of Michigan’s Attorney General.
