💀 RIP to These Zombie Tactics
Some digital tactics keep crawling out of the graveyard of bad memes and worse marketing. So grab a shovel — and let’s give these a proper burial.
I’m personally mourning the end of Spooky Season (justice for October — it deserves an extension). But since it’s not quite over — and I have a blog to write — we’re honoring the season with something truly terrifying: Outdated digital habits that refuse to die 🧟
1. Posting and Hoping
Brands still think if they post often enough, the algorithm will take pity on them. It won’t.
💀 Cause of Death: Consistency without strategy.
🧪 Antidote: Post with purpose. Use insights to decide what, when, and where you share.
2. Relying on Organic Reach
Without paid support or community engagement, your posts aren’t “low-performing” — they’re invisible.
💀 Cause of Death: Algorithm fatigue (and platforms chasing ad dollars).
🧪 Antidote: Invest in paid campaigns and video — or accept your doom.
3. Static Websites
The “set it and forget it” approach might’ve worked for the Showtime Rotisserie Oven — but not for your website. If you haven’t touched your site since the pandemic, neither has Google.
💀 Cause of Death: Neglect and zero optimization.
🧪 Antidote: Keep it alive with a blog, fresh FAQs, and mobile-first design.
4. Clickbait Headlines & Empty Content
“YOU WON’T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT.”
You’re right — we won’t. Because we’ve already scrolled past it.
💀 Cause of Death: You’re yelling. Calm down.
🧪 Antidote: Write headlines that invite people in — then deliver something worth their time.
5. Email Blasts to the Masses
The “Dear Valued Customer” era died long ago. Let it rest.
💀 Cause of Death: Zero personalization. Too much, too often.
🧪 Antidote: Make every send feel like it was written for an actual human being (because it should be).
☠️ Final Words from Beyond the Feed
These zombie tactics once ruled the digital world — but their time has passed. What still works is simple: strategy, substance, and a human touch.
So this Halloween (and beyond):
🪦 Bury the bad habits.
💡 Keep the good ideas alive.
👻 And don’t let outdated tactics haunt your brand.
